This is the follow up book to Anna’s Home Front and completes the story of Anna Forrester. Anna has discovered the secret of her mother’s diary in the previous book, and now has a difficult choice on whether to continue as a journalist, or take responsibility for something that she was unaware was her inheritance.
This book also uses parallel stories and alternates between Anna’s story and that of a soldier/spy in a prisoner of war camp who has to escape quickly in order that the Nazis do not find out the state secret he is carrying in his head. Tense moments ensue and reluctantly he has to take others into his confidence in order to escape without detection.
When he finally returns home, we discover his real identity.
Also, in the final chapter Anna’s problem is also solved as well. A satisfying end to a story begun in the first book and continued into this one. I really enjoyed both books.

About Leyac House

The fictional Leyac House at the heart of Anna’s story was inspired by Ham House in London, a real seventeenth century house on the banks of the Thames with a history as layered and atmospheric as anything I could have invented. I visited Ham House while researching the novel and these are a few of the photographs I took.
